Start with the Sweet Spot The best listening/viewing position—called the sweet spot—should be directly aligned with the screen and the center speaker. Everything else should be built around this reference point.

Consider Viewing Angles and Distance Make sure each seat has a direct line of sight to the screen. Avoid placing seats too close (causes eye strain) or too far (loses detail). A general rule: for a 120-inch screen, the ideal distance is about 10–12 feet.

Go Beyond Rows Not every theater needs multiple rows. But if you do add a second row, raise it on a riser of about 10–12 inches to avoid obstruction. Add handrails or step lighting for safety.

Comfort Enhances Experience Ergonomic seating like recliners with lumbar support, cup holders, USB charging, and ambient lighting enhances both comfort and appeal. Don’t underestimate armrest width and legroom, especially for long movie nights.

Audio Considerations Keep seats away from rear and side walls where bass builds up. Avoid placing seats directly under Atmos ceiling speakers unless aligned with Dolby specifications.
